Major UK Pharmaceutical Distributor Trusts Astirvant to develop Tough Distribution Roll Container

Traditional roll containers have removable ends and sides, so that they can save space on return journeys and storage.

This pharmacuetical distributor had bought several of these from us, but found that the treatment these were getting throughout their network was leading repairs and 'early' retirements. These trucks were quite large at 2000mm x 800mm, initially with just 2 ends.

We suggested that they should go for a bespoke truck with welded ends & sides, that would stand up to the rigours of use (providing that they did not need the removable aspect to the sides). Now with two ends and one long side - all welded.

The increased costs in producing a bespoke item would be saved quickly by not having to repair or replace the lesser duty trucks.

15 of these were put into use and a year later, the client was so pleased that they wanted to order more. In that period they had found that more improvements could be made - and we were more than happy to help.

The large size was found to be difficult to handle in certain environments and so we reduced the length to 1600mm and inset the castors to increase the manoeuvrability. We also further increased the duty of the castors, as again the treatment that these trucks take, such as being dropped off of kerbs, was still leading to the odd replacement of castors.
